The Tulsa Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (Tulsa SPCA), founded in 1913, is a non-profit organization dedicated to improving animal welfare by providing rescue, rehabilitation, adoption, and community education services in the greater Tulsa area.
Maintenance and Facility Technician
Responsibilities: Under general supervision conduct regular inspections and determine needed upkeep and improvements for Tulsa SPCA buildings, associated facilities, equipment, tools, and vehicles; and perform repairs as necessary. Plan, implement, and track maintenance activities, projects, and purchases. Perform regular preventative maintenance on equipment and tools. Oversee any maintenance/construction projects carried out by outside agencies or volunteers on Tulsa SPCA grounds. Maintain grounds and landscaping.
Track and report expenditures, monitor budget for maintenance, attend meetings, coordinate work with departments, ensure compliance with regulatory, safety, and security standards. Uphold the mission, values, and goals of the Tulsa SPCA. Foster a team environment and strong working relationships with staff, volunteers, and contractors.
Qualified applicants are required to have a High School Diploma or General Education Development certificate (G.E.D.) and experience with building, mechanical, and electrical maintenance and repair. Prior maintenance experience and satisfactory referrals are required. Good math skills and computer skills required. Considerable knowledge of manual work practices, methods, tools, materials and equipment of varied semiskilled and skilled work. Exhibit strong skills in: interpersonal communication (verbal and written), customer service, teamwork, organization, decision making, multi-tasking, attention to detail, and flexibility.
Availability to work a varied schedule and shift changes may be required, some weekends and holidays as necessary, and overtime as necessary. Available for call-back and respond to emergency maintenance requests.
Starting pay and work week: $12.00/hr., 30 hours/week, Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 3:00 PM. Position is non-exempt. Benefits available include: health, dental, and vision; as well as some veterinary benefits.
