Remi’s Happy Tail
September 13, 2025Sunny’s Happy Tail
November 15, 2025Are you ready for this week’s Happy Tail that shows just how life-changing fostering can be? Meet Sandie (formerly Bronx), the sweetest girl with quite the story!
Sandie and her two siblings came to us in August 2024. While her brother and sister were adopted quickly, Sandie stayed with us for nearly 90 days. The shelter environment was stressful for her, and she showed her anxiety by being very vocal — in fact, everyone around here could recognize her just by her bark! Everything changed when a kind foster family took her in. To their surprise, Sandie never barked once in their home! Away from the stress of the shelter, she finally relaxed and showed her true, gentle personality. While staying with her foster family, some of their friends met Sandie and instantly fell in love. They adopted her, and now she’s living her happily ever after!
Stories like Sandie’s remind us how powerful fostering can be. It helps animals feel safe, lowers their stress, and can even lead them to their forever home. Do you want to sign up to be a foster? Fill out the application here: https://www.tulsaspca.org/become-foster-parent/
“Thanks for checking in on us. Sandie (Bronx) is doing great here! She absolutely loved the snow and stood in the backyard just barking at it forever. We went on a trip to Broken Bow over New Year’s, and she did great in the car and the cabin but barked like crazy at absolutely every one of the 36 dogs we passed on a hike. So we have some work there. 😆 She’s mostly stopped eating anything she can find, but it’s a constant struggle with toys and a three-year-old. And she’s so very smart the big kids have to put chairs in front of their doors to keep her out at night. She can open any kind of door handle. And she gets on the couch by just jumping gracefully over the back of it. She loves treats and all her toys. She hasn’t found a surface in the house she doesn’t consider a good napping spot. She loves snuggles and playing with the kids. She even gets in the trampoline with them. She’s done very good at getting our older dog to play with her too, which is no small feat. She still has separation anxiety when we leave — or more so, she just tells us how displeased she was when we get back, even if we’re gone for five minutes. Very loudly. She’d prefer we are all home with her at all times. But we are working on that too. Overall, she’s been such a great addition to our family, and we feel lucky to have found her!!”
